Darfur

Darfur is a place in Sudan in Africa. Currently tribes in Darfur are being killed. It is a genocide and no one is doing anything about it. The worst part is that it's own government is at fault. The government is killing their own people. In 2006 over 200,000 people were killed. Two tribes are being targetted. I think that this is terrible. We should be helping the people in Africa whether or not it is our business to be over there. Im sure we can easily help out such a small place .

NA problems vs SA problems

The problems facing South America involve flooding, pollution, and deforestation. This include heavy rain causing erosion and destryoing the land. Pollution affects the water and air the people in the SA countries have to deal with. This makes illness a bigger problem because the water they are drinking is not clean enough. Deforestation is another problem. SA is densley populated with rainforests and trees. Therefore greedy business owners plow down the trees in order to help their businesses with paper or wood. This is killing animals and destroying their habitats.
Problems in North America are overweight people and air pollution. Air pollution is similar to SA. Here we have tons of cars driving every day and its destroying the air. This year the weather has been so ridiculously wierd that something has to be going on with the atmosphere and the climate. Over weight people is from all the fast food and laziness of Americans. That is not so much a problem in SA.

USA stereotypes

What are the stereotypes that describe each region of the USA? Are they valid why or why not?

Northeast- The northern states are very pro slavery and "hicks" these are the stereotypes that are not necesarily true. They were the confederacy during the civil war and that is why they are know to hate blacks.

Southeast- The people in this region are cocky and arrogant. They think they are the best. This is sometimes true because I live here and see it everyday

Pacific- They are known as surfer kind of people this is pretty accurate because everyone over there does surf and its all right on the ocean. Theyre also alot of people from hollywood and actors.

Midwest- The west can be stereotyped as cowboys from the old western movies. This is also not very true because cowboys do not really exist anymore

Rocky- Lots of farmers and it is like this because the area is very rural for farming and crops.

About Me

My name is Matthew Houlis I am 17 years old and live in Westwood. My hobbies are cars and working. I do not do any sports or anything school related. I enjoy hanging otu with my friends and just relaxing. I am a senior in highschool and i am not positive about what i want to do for college yet.

favorite place

My favorite place that I have visited was the Jersey shore. I went last memorial day for the weekend and once over the summer. It was fun because it was just me and my girlfriend and we got to stay at my grandmas. No annoying parents or anyone it was nice to like get away from everything and just enjoy a weekend to ourselves. We stayed out later than usual, wasted a bunch of money on the boardwalk games and arcades, relaxed on the beach,and just had a great time.
